Worthy Words 2

Worthy Words (February 23)

Our pastor is preaching verse by verse through the book of Ecclesiastes. Last Sunday, he reminded us that something in us is always curious, but when we take God out of the equation, everything eventually becomes dull, empty, and unsatisfying.

I’ve been thinking a lot about that lately and looking for more ways to enjoy God in the day-to-day. One of my favorite ways of doing that is getting outside and appreciating the work of his hands in nature. It stirs up a sense of wonder and worship in my soul, and I always return home refreshed.

Spring is my least favorite season. I know that’s an unpopular opinion, but where I live, spring is more brown and dirty than vibrant and refreshing. I’m learning to look for the beauty in the brown, find delight in the dullness, and meditate on God’s magnificence in the mud.

The combination of silence and trickling water prompts me to be still and rest a while, like a sheep with her Good Shepherd as he leads me beside still waters and restores my soul.

This Week’s Worthy Words

FIVE THINGS THAT ARE SMARTER THAN ME | KATHY GILES

This is so fun to read. Kathy humorously describes situations most of us can relate to, and it just feels good to know we’re not alone.

WORRY AND WISDOM AND TEETH | KRISTEN COUCH

Another enjoyable read that’ll bring a smile to your face while reminding you that God is trustworthy.

TRY TO BE MORE AWKWARD | BRIANNA LAMBERT

This one challenged me. Brianna writes about common awkward situations that happen at church—described precisely as I’ve experienced them—and reflects on the importance of embracing the awkwardness to love others well.

WAS IT ALL A WASTE? | SYLVIA SCHROEDER

Have you ever stepped outside your comfort zone, taken a risk, or given something your all, only to have it fail? I have. Many times. Be encouraged by this article!

WHEREVER HE LEADS, HE’LL GO | GLENNA MARSHALL

Like Glenna, I tried and failed countless times to commit to perfect obedience on my own strength. A desire to obey God is a good thing, but we’re sinful human beings, and no amount of willpower is enough to keep us holy. Powerful truth in this read!

ICE, WIND, AND UNANSWERED PRAYERS | STEPHANIE

What can we do while we wait for God to answer our prayers? Stephanie provides a beautiful and powerful analogy along with three practical tips.

Thank you for considering these words worthy of your time! To God be all the glory!
