Worthy Words 3

Worthy Words (May 19)

It’s a long weekend for Canadians. Because of the forest fires here in Alberta, there’s a lot of smoke, so outdoor adventure isn’t really an option this year. Let’s pray for the firefighters and families affected by the fires.

This week on the blog: How Sanctification Helps Us Embrace the Editing Process

A STRAIGHT EDGE | KRISTIN COUCH

I want to be like the woman highlighted in this piece. “Do not neglect the small, holy tasks God places before you. Be a candle that glows only for him. He will handle the influences and outcomes in the way he sees fit…Many of God’s faithful candles are tucked quietly in the pews, serving the Lord, and stewarding their lives beautifully for God’s glory, with precious little fanfare.”

HE DREW ME THROUGH AGONY: MY PAINFUL PATH TO FAITH | KATHRYN BUTLER

“I was a nominal Christian, with an understanding of God grounded in sentimentality rather than biblical truth. When paramedics rushed three dying young men through the sliding doors of my emergency department, my meager faith unraveled.”

SQUINTING FOR THE GLORY OF GOD | ADRIEL SANCHEZ

“What if instead of looking at our impairments as hindrances to the gospel’s advancement, we saw them as the very stages upon which God intended to show forth his power? What if instead of praying that God would remove our weakness, we prayed that God would show himself strong through it?

IF YOU LIKE TO READ BOOKS… | BARBARA LEE HARPER

Some super practical ways “to support writers and keep good books coming. You may not be aware of some ways publishing has changed over the last few years. These changes put different pressures and requirements on new and published authors,” but you can help!

LET’S USE BIBLICAL THEOLOGY TO SPARK SCRIPTURE ENGAGEMENT | JOE CARTER

“People are curious about Jesus and the Bible, so let’s reward that curiosity by showing them the depth, majesty, and cohesiveness of God’s Word. Exposure to the grand narrative of the Bible will make them more, not less, interested in engaging with Scripture.”

Thank you for considering these words worthy of your time! To God be all the glory!
