Worthy Words (June 2)

A highlight of this week was a walk in the park with my mom on Tuesday afternoon. We heard countless species of birds—I have a “thing” for birds—and saw a real live beaver, a deer, a couple of geese with eight adorable goslings, and a mallard duck couple enjoying a trickling stream. God’s marvelous creation is one of my favorite forms of rest!

My prayer for us this week is from 1 Thessalonians 1:11-12, which reads, “To this end also we pray for you always, that our God will count you worthy of your calling, and fulfill every desire for goodness and the work of faith with power, so that the name of our Lord Jesus will be glorified in you, and you in Him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.” AMEN!

THIRD TIME’S A CHARM? HOW TO ENDURE TRIALS WITH HOPE | CARA RAY

How would you handle it if your husband was laid off from work three times within a year? Cara shares how her family has navigated this harsh reality, including five practical lessons they’ve learned (and are learning) about how to handle difficulties like these.

RECONSTRUCTING MY FAITH | SARABETH KAPUSTA

“Ten years ago, I fled the only life I had ever known and escaped the abuse and control of the church where I grew up.” This story is riveting, and it’s so refreshing to read of someone reconstructing instead of deconstructing their faith.

TRUTH: GOD’S WORK NEVER LACKS GOD’S SUPPLY | FORREST MCPHAIL

I never tire of stories like those Forrest shares in this post. Our own family has a collection of true tales very similar to these, and they illustrate one of my favorite quotes from Hudson Taylor (highlighted in the article).

LET’S TURN PRIDE MONTH INTO PRAYER MONTH | CINDY MATSON

“I’m convinced that we followers of Christ must launch a campaign of our own… I want to see the Body of Christ use the next thirty days to storm the gates of heaven for our own souls, families, churches, community, nation, and world. What if every time we see a rainbow flag this month we stop to pray?” Cindy follows her exhortation with a 30-day prayer calendar full of grace and Scripture. Beautiful.

Thank you for considering these words worthy of your time! To God be all the glory!

  1. Jana, thank you for this! I had read Cara’s article a while back – so good! Sarabeth’s article led me to a podcast I can share with my son who is trying to reconstruct his faith; and I LOVED the article about reclaiming the month of June for prayer! Praise the Lord! Blessings to you and yours. ????
